For the Whole School: Term 4 Week 2
Thank You for Maintenance Morning!
A huge thank you to those who came along to our Maintenance Morning! It is always wonderful to see our community coming together to care for the school. Your time, energy and willingness to lend a hand make such a difference, and we really appreciate everyone’s contributions.
A special thank you to Alan, our new Facilities Coordinator for organising the morning and to those who helped him settle into his first Maintenance Day at Currambena.
School Concert Preparations Are Underway!
The excitement is building as preparations for our School Concert on Friday 20th November at Norths are now underway!
If you would like to help with costume or prop making, please check in with your child’s teacher or with Crafty Chris. Crafty will be bringing in the experts closer to the day but there are always opportunities for more hands, and we would love your involvement!
And don’t forget to purchase your concert tickets ahead of time using the QR code posted around Currambena. An event not to be missed in the Curambena calendar!

Conflict Resolution Course – Saturday 14th November
Another important reminder to please sign up for our Conflict Resolution Course on Saturday 14th November!
Conflict resolution is at the heart of so much of what we do at Currambena. It is not simply about helping children sort out disagreements, but about developing lifelong skills for communication, empathy, independence, relationships and problem-solving.
The course explores 12 important conflict resolution skills, including:
- Win-Win Approach – finding solutions where everyone’s needs are considered.
- Creative Response – seeing problems as opportunities for learning and growth.
- Empathy – listening and understanding another person’s perspective.
- Appropriate Assertiveness – expressing our needs respectfully and addressing the problem rather than the person.
- Co-operative Power – working with others rather than having power over them.
- Managing Emotions – recognising and expressing feelings constructively.
- Willingness to Resolve – recognising what might be getting in the way of finding a solution.
- Mapping the Conflict – understanding the different needs and concerns involved.
- Development of Options – exploring creative solutions together.
- Introduction to Negotiation – finding ways to reach agreements.
- Introduction to Mediation – supporting others to work through disagreements.
- Broadening Perspectives – looking beyond our own point of view.
These are skills we use every day at Currambena, and they are just as valuable in our own lives as adults, whether at home, at work or in our relationships.
A number of staff will be attending, and I really encourage families to join us. For new families, and particularly preschool families considering continuing into primary school, this is a fantastic opportunity to understand one of the foundations of our school philosophy.
Hope to see you there. You can register your interest by emailing wendyp@currambena.nsw.edu.au.
