Sarah’s Class: Term 2 Week 10
Hello everyone! I hope you’ve all had a pleasant weekend.
It was so nice to return last Tuesday and see all the children again. I did miss them while I was away. Thankfully, I am healing well.
How good were our children’s choir at Voices for Reconciliation on Thursday. The majority of my class chose to join and sing, and Wendy said they were all so committed because they made the choice to be part of it. It was gorgeous to see some of your faces in the audience too which made it all the more special. Thank you to those of you who could make it. Outside of this, and the many rehearsals, we have spent the week finishing up on tasks/activities which Pepper and Sean started while I was away. As mentioned, in last week’s post, the group have been watching a few episodes from the ABC historical series called “My Place” which was developed from the book written by Nadia Wheatley and Donna Rawlins. After watching a few episodes which crossed 3 or more decades the children completed a quiz. They then drew and labelled a map of a special place of their own and wrote a passage about it. Most of the children wrote some beautiful little passages in their books which aligned with their maps.
Other things we made our way through were our usual Soundwaves unit, completing activities on measuring in cm and metre squares and we did our last session of Tennis. On Friday, children from different classes all gathered in our space to watch the Socceroos play Paraguay in The World Cup! That result was a bit exciting!!
Next week, we will continue to ‘wrap-up’ the term with the last Soundwaves unit for the term. There will be a Maths assessment on learning strategies and some selfreflection. Tuesday, of course, we have our afternoon tea with Project presentations starting at 3:30 PM which I am hoping most of you will make it to.
And the children have voted on our last day, to start the day with a Disco, then go up the street to buy lunch, and finish with a movie. I will of course let you know what that movie choice is, if we need parental permission and will leave the monetary amount to buy lunch with, up to you, based on what they choose to buy.
I think that’s it!
Love, Sarah
