Jess and Susan’s Class: Term 2 Week 10

Dear Parents,

The term is really racing to the end now. This week we finished off our spelling and phonics program for the term by examining the difference between the n sound (tongue behind the teeth) and the ‘ng’ sound (tongue at the back and top of mouth). It’s a tricky one to hear in words like ‘tank’ and ‘sank’.

In maths we reviewed the commutative and associative properties of addition and multiplication and we explored tricks for multiplying numbers with multiples of ten. We also played some really fun class matcha games including ‘Get out of my house’ and ‘don’t break the bank’.

Congratulations to the children who sang and played the guitar for Children’s Voices for Reconciliation on Thursday – reports are that it was a fantastic performance.

We also watched some videos on convict life in Sydney in the early 1800s and discussed the difficult life that convict children encountered if they were sentenced to the penal colony.

Next week we have our PIP afternoon tea on Tuesday 30th at 3:30pm. Susan and I are looking forward to a fun afternoon.

Early next term, Susan and I will be hosting parent/ teacher meetings which will be a lovely opportunity to catch up with everyone. Once I have the timetable organised, I’ll send out a Google Doc that you can access and sign up for a convenient time.

Happy weekend!

Jess and Susan
