For the Whole School: Term 3 Week 4
Calling All Social Butterflies!
We’re looking for a few community members who would like to help bring our Term 3 and Term 4 end-of-term socials to life!
Whether you’re someone who loves organising events, has a great idea for bringing everyone together, or would simply like to lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you.
Our end-of-term socials are a wonderful chance for children, families and staff to relax, connect and enjoy being part of the Currambena community — and some fresh ideas and helping hands would be very welcome!
Interested? Have an idea? Come and have a chat with Olivia.
A huge thank you to Valentina and the WOW Project for a wonderful Playgroup session last Wednesday! It was such a joy to have you bring your colourful, creative and exciting energy to the morning, creating a beautiful session for the littlies in our community to
explore and enjoy.
We’re also incredibly grateful to Maria and Parul for generously volunteering their time and helping to make the morning run so smoothly. Thank you!
The WOW Project will be managing our Playgroup sessions for now, and we would love to see Playgroup continue to grow and welcome more families from the Lane Cove community and beyond.
Please help us spread the word! If you know families with little ones who might enjoy joining us, or families who are curious about Currambena and would like a chance to experience our community, please pass on our Playgroup information or direct them to
the Currambena website.
Lots of exciting things have been happening in Meg’s group at the moment. Last week, they held their Year 6/7 Night, where last year’s leavers came back to Currambena to talk with the current Year 6s about their experiences of starting high school.
What better way to find out what high school is really like than to hear directly from people who were sitting in your shoes this time last year? Our returning students shared their experiences, answered questions and gave plenty of useful insights into making the move from Currambena to high school.
It was also lovely to welcome some familiar faces back and hear about how they are finding life beyond Currambena. Opportunities like this are such an important part of helping our oldest children feel informed and confident about the next step ahead, with advice coming from people who know both Currambena and the transition to high school firsthand.
A big thank you to our former students for coming back and sharing their wisdom!
Meg’s group is getting the whole Primary School jumping, skipping and moving for Jump Rope for Heart!
Jump Rope for Heart is a Heart Foundation fundraising program that raises money to support lifesaving heart research, health programs and initiatives aimed at preventing heart disease and improving heart health.
A committee of children from Meg’s group has been formed and is busy taking responsibility for organising the event. Over the coming weeks, children across the Primary School will be practising all sorts of skipping skills at playtime — from mastering the basics to trying out some fancy tricks!
All this skipping will lead up to our big Jump Off Day on Tuesday 1st September.
Flyers were sent home last week with information about fundraising. If your child would like to gather sponsors, please have a look at the flyer (or click this link: https://www.jumprope.org.au/parents ) and encourage them to ask family and friends to sponsor their skipping efforts.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for the children to get active, learn some new skills, support an important cause and, in true Currambena style, have the children themselves take the lead in making it all happen.
Happy skipping!
Please keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming events: Special Science sessions for Science week, Art Week with Zines and animations, Book Week with character parade and Buy A Book for our school library event and much more! A very exciting term!
