Meg’s Class: Term 3 Week 10

Hi everyone,

Wow, what a term!

This week we began looking at percentages and the role they play in our everyday lives. We discussed where we already encounter percentages and where the children might come across them as they grow up. For our last maths lesson, and as a little end-of-term treat, we ventured up to Woolworths. The children formed their own groups and were given 15 minutes to decide on an ice cream or sweet treat they wanted to buy together, with a budget of $5 for the smaller groups and $10 for the larger groups. We saw smaller groups combine to work together, practise negotiation, search for the best deals and get creative with their choices. There was plenty of maths happening along the way, and lots of fun was had!

We also continued working on our play and after lots of discussion and ideas, we now have a plot! The play will be well and truly underway when we return next term.

Jervis Bay Camp has finally been confirmed, with dates set for 23–27 November! If you haven’t yet sent in your child’s expression of interest, please get this to me by Monday so we can work out likely numbers and costs. If you would like to volunteer to join us or help with driving, please also send me an email. More information will come your way this week!

Wishing you all a lovely school holiday break. I hope the children have a chance to rest, recharge and enjoy themselves before we dive into an exciting and busy final term of 2026!

With love,
Meg
