Faith’s Class: Term 3 Week 10

Happy Week 10! The Chatterboxes have worked incredibly hard this term and it has been a blast!

On Monday, we had our final library visit for the term and chose some books to borrow and enjoy over the holidays. We wrapped up our Soundwaves for the term and put the finishing touches on our information reports, editing and proofreading before writing our final copies.

On Tuesday, we prepared for our GIP and PIP presentations. Both the Elders and the Juniors practised presenting their slides, working on how to stand confidently, reduce fidgeting and project their voices so that everyone could hear them. There were some last-minute touches and improvements to make sure their presentations were ready to go!

Wednesday was our Tambourine Bay excursion, which was a fantastic way to wrap up our Currents of Care topic. Despite the rain, we put on our raincoats and gumboots and headed off on a bushwalk from school down to the bay. Along the way, we looked closely at the waterways around us, found stormwater drains and their manhole covers and discussed how water moves through our local area. We also observed how the recent rain had washed water down from higher areas of Lane Cove, carrying pollution with it into our waterways. It was a wonderful opportunity to see many of the ideas we have explored this term.

Thursday was presentation day and I could not be prouder of the hard work everyone put into their GIPs and PIPs. A huge congratulations to our Juniors on their first presentation! They showed so much confidence speaking in front of such a large audience and it was wonderful to see how proud they were of their work. Our Elders have also put an enormous amount of effort into their PIPs and it was fantastic to see all of their research come together. We also completed our final Currents of Care project on Thursday by creating trioramas of the waterways featured in our information reports. The Chatterboxes put so much thought and creativity into their designs and they look fantastic! We have some very impressive little waterways on display in our classroom (we will keep them on show for the start of term).

On Friday, we celebrated our final day of Term 3 with a movie and popcorn! It was a lovely relaxed way to finish what has been a very busy term. I hope everyone has a wonderful and well-deserved break. Thank you for all your support throughout the term and I can’t wait to see all the Chatterboxes back for Term 4.
