Wendy’s Group Week 9 Term 4

We’ve had a fabulous week with an absolute highlight being our visit to the SBS studios on Wednesday afternoon. Huge thanks to Cathy, Sally, Erin and Annie for coming with us and to Cathy and her friend Sarah Parker at SBS who organised it for us. We saw the newsrooms and spoke to journalists and graphic artists and then, since Wednesday was the day the social media ban for under 16 year olds began, some of the children were interviewed about that issue. I was so proud that almost half the group were brave enough to volunteer for this. If you didn’t see the SBS news on Wednesday night, it’s certainly worth a look!

Another highlight was Summerhill Day, a really good one! There were so many activities run by children and so much creativity and fun. Congratulations to everyone involved. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the photos! My algebra group was amazing, concentrating so well and making great progress. Latin and rice paper rolls were also great fun. Thanks everyone.

We’ve completed some textbook pages this week and finished our maths topic on time… just in time for the end of term. The rest of our PIP presentations will be on Monday next week after Orientation Morning, then beach day on Tuesday and on Wednesday, the final School Meeting for 2025, chaired by our Year 6 Leavers, some cleaning up and Kris Kringle.

Thank you so much to all those parents who have helped us in our group this year with excursions, camps and all the other things parents do to support children and teachers here at Currambena. Special thanks to Jo for her work as our class rep, managing the WhatsApp group and organising things for us.

It has been a wonderful year with this gorgeous group of children and I will miss spending my days with them next year. I’m so glad I’ll be here part time to still be part of their journey. Even though I am retiring from full-time teaching, it’s not goodbye! I’ll be here next year two days a week in a different role, working with Olivia, teachers and council to help Currambena move to an updated constitution and support teachers with curriculum planning.

I hope to see many of you next Wednesday afternoon after the children’s last day.

Have a safe, restful and happy break.

With love,  Wendy
