Wendy’s Group Week 8 Term 2

The lantern making this week has been a gorgeous celebration, with so many talented artists working with us and amazing creations coming into being in an extraordinarily short time. Thank you so much to Crafty Chris for organising it all. It has been a delight to work with my group of children each day, cycling through the different activities. Now we are looking forward to the launching next Tuesday night!

Before Art Week officially began on Wednesday, we managed to fit in some maths, practising times tables and creating fractions posters to demonstrate learning about the meanings of a range of fraction notation and terminology. Completed posters will be up on our walls very soon.

In English, we revisited types of nouns, pronouns and types of sentences… and we also wrote a group email to Kateryna, the teacher in Ukraine whose work we support with some of our fundraising money, to thank her for the certificate of appreciation that she designed for us. All the children in our group have helped with fundraising so everyone has a copy of this certificate for their portfolio now.

We are having a wonderfully musical time on our room at the moment, with piano and guitars often to be heard. It’s so lovely that the children have access to these instruments and space in which to play during the school day… and also lovely for others to listen! Of course, one of the rules for playing is that it has to sound beautiful!

Next week is incredibly busy with the social on Tuesday, cyber-safety parent evening on Wednesday and then Council governance training on Thursday. Hope to see many of you at some of those events! The Cyber Safety evening will be especially valuable for parents of our group with phones and gaming such important aspects of the children’s lives. See the calendar for details.

Keep warm and well!

Love,
Wendy
