Wendy’s Group Week 5 Term 3
Hi everyone… do you know the saying “as long as a wet week”? Hasn’t the rain been relentless this week! Fingers crossed for more sunshine next week.
Many thanks to the Maintenance team for their work last weekend. It’s always lovely to come in on Monday morning and see the school looking cared for! Thank you!
We were lucky on Friday morning to be able to have the Book Character Parade outside. Some of the costumes were stunning. Congratulations to all the children (and adults!) who participated. Thank you very much to all the parents who came and bought books to donate to our school library this week during the Buy a Book afternoons on Thursday and Friday. It will be wonderful to add these new acquisitions to the library once we have all the current collection of books cleaned and sorted. If you have any time to spare and want to make up some Maintenance hours, please come and see me and I’ll let you know what needs to be done next.
A highlight this week was our talk from Maryam Master on Tuesday afternoon. Last term, we read her book “Laughter is the Best Ending” which has now won a CBA book of the year award. Maryam was a highly engaging speaker and told the children about her experience as a refugee coming to Australia to start a new life. She really enjoyed talking with the children and was very impressed with their insightful questions.
In Maths this week we have launched into 2D shapes and finished off probability. 2D shapes will continue next week. Our practicum student, Loki, has given his first few lessons to the whole group, including one on electricity this week following up on our Science Week activities last week.
Thanks so much to everyone for making the time to come in and chat about your child’s progress in our parent interviews. It is such a delight to teach your children and I always love talking with you about them.
Next week, we have an excursion to Kinma on Thursday to see a performance by Musica Viva. It should be a lot of fun.
And next Friday, the children have voted to celebrate Wear it Purple Day to increase awareness of gender diversity and inclusion. We’ll have a story read by one of the children to start the day on Friday and maybe some dancing on the decking… if the weather is fine! Wearing purple is certainly an option!
In the last week of term, we hope to go to Ultimate Trampoline Park on Tuesday 23rd September. Please let me know if you could help by driving us that day. Thanks!
Have a great week.
With love,
Wendy
