Wendy’s Group Week 5 Term 1

Half way through the term already!

We have been consolidating our work on representing numbers in maths with some lessons from Keeghan and we’re making great progress on our ocean underwater seascapes in class. Looking at language use in English has been based on the book “A is for Australian Reefs”. We have discussed the continuum from very informal, colloquial language to formal, academic language and rewritten a sentence from this book in less formal language. We have also completed our usual spelling and time tables practice this week.

Lots of discussion about camp has also been happening with Castle Mountain camp Wednesday to Friday next week. I think we have the the cabins sorted now and we’ll organise cars early next week. Please carefully read the notes about camp in the attachments sent home by email and on paper this week. Children should all pack their own bags please so they know where things are. Please make sure every item is named and ensure they can manage their sleeping bags and have a waterproof raincoat! Thanks again to those parents who have offered to drive us there or back or both! We probably won’t go swimming on Tuesday so that everyone can pack dry swimmers for Wednesday morning!

Thanks again to everyone who supported our stall for Ukraine last week. We will be sending over $500 to Kateryna this week. Holding our breath for a fair and lasting peace for Ukraine very soon.

Many thanks to Carolina for organising the Carnavale event on Wednesday. It was fun to see the costumes and masks, hear the songs and see the dancing. Thank you guitar players for supporting the singing!

Also thank you to the maintenance people for all the great work last weekend! The school is looking terrific!

Our lovely Jo Stevens has offered to be our class rep this year and Olivia has told me we actually need two people to share this load. Is there anyone else who could possibly join Jo to help with class rep things this year? Please let me know.

And lastly, fingers crossed for sunshine next week!

With love,
Wendy
