Wendy’s Group Week 2 Term 4

Hi everyone.

Wasn’t the ball last Saturday night fun! Great to see some amazing costumes and the music – huge thanks to our very own dad band and Nate – was fantastic! Many thanks to Sally and Jo for all the organising! Stunning venue of course, too!

We’ve had a great week in our group, with some highlights being story writing and play writing…. Our script is almost ready to print. The play has been almost 100% written by the kids and some of it is very funny. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it very much. Rehearsals will start in earnest next week.

In Maths, we’ve revised area and perimeter, as well as volume and capacity with a move on to mass planned for next week.

We survived the extreme heat on Monday by closing all our windows and blinds, reducing movement to a minimum, drinking water regularly and keeping our ceiling fans going. We did decide not to visit Lane Cove Library that afternoon… but our trip to Lane Cove Pool on Tuesday morning was a great success. Great to see the children confidently getting back into the water to practise floating on backs and using efficient breast stroke technique.

We also had another student teacher from Macquarie Uni with us just for the week. Quinn spent a week with us earlier in the year and was here for a second observation prac. She delighted the children with her amazing piano playing skills and she joined in many games with the group. We wish her all the best for the future. She features in the group photo.

I was over-optimistic hoping to have a camp meeting this week so it is now rescheduled for next week on Wednesday night at 6pm. I will discuss all aspects of the Jervis Bay camp and complete the camp induction process for anyone hoping to stay there with us. This process is essential for parents staying with us even for one day.

A big week ahead next week with an excursion to a Bangara Dance performance on Tuesday, Information Morning and Day of the Dead with Spanish teacher, Carolina, on Wednesday and then Halloween on Friday! School Meeting voted to have a parade for anyone who wants to, straight after School Meeting (probably around 10:15) next Friday. Should be fun!

Have a good one!

Love,

Wendy
