The Ladybirds Week 5 Term 3
Hi everyone,
This week in the Ladybirds, we’ve been continuing to build our understanding of multiplication and division through a variety of hands-on activities. The children enjoyed exploring how to group and share objects in fun and interactive ways.
In celebration of Book Week, themed ‘Book an Adventure’, we took our learning on a literary journey! On Monday, we enjoyed the classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and brought the story to life by re-enacting it in our classroom, climbing over a mountain of pillows and crawling under tables. Later in the week, we looked at imaginary adventures with Where the Wild Things Are and created our own Wild Things. On Wednesday, we collaborated to create our own class adventure story and designed imaginative backpacks filled with everything we might need for our make-believe explorations. We wrapped up the week, celebrating by dressing up as some of our favourite book characters for the Book Week Parade!
A special shout-out to June and Kai, who did a fantastic job running the school meeting this week!
Looking ahead, we have a fun and full week coming up:
Wednesday – Pirate Day
– Our learning will be centred around pirates! Children are welcome to come dressed as pirates for the day.
Thursday – Excursion to Kinma
– We’ve been invited to attend a Musica Viva session at Kinma. We’ll be sharing morning tea and lunch with their students, so please pack a light backpack for your child (similar to our aquarium excursion) that they can comfortably carry themselves.
Friday – Wear it Purple Day
– The Children will wear purple to show that our school is a welcoming and kind place where everyone feels safe and included.
It’s shaping up to be another jam-packed but fun week for the Ladybirds!
With love,
Meg
