Sarah’s Class week 6 Term 3
Hello everybody,
Hoping you’ve had a nice weekend. Bella (our student teacher) has been doing some wonderful lessons with the children so far. We had our usual timetabled music lesson with Kym this week and the children got to experience playing the ukelele. Monday afternoon was our visit to Lane Cove library. Tuesday, for PE we played Pickleball on the handball court. Starting on the basketball we were quickly forced off when a fire engine arrived for a Preschool visit. We worked on smaller and shorter hits given the tighter boundary to play within.
That afternoon, Bella started a “design and make” task linking to our topic on technology. We continued with this on Wednesday morning where in small groups the children needed to design something which could be tested and used. The groups worked well to create kites which had ‘lift’ and a boat that floated. We also consolidated our understanding from last week on Volume and Capacity with the same work stations Bella prepared for the children. They were much more adept at measuring water in millilitres and packing containers with different objects to test their capacity.
The excursion to Kinma on Thursday was a success, with the weather holding up for a lovely musical day! It was great to see a fair few children adorn purple on Friday to support LGBTQIA+ community. Thanks to Wendy’s group for managing the music for a dance party in the afternoon. It was a lovely way to end the day and week.
That’s it from us!
Love, Sarah
