Sarah’s Class Week 5 Term 1
Hello!
I trust that you’ve all had a nice weekend. Half way through our 1st term and the children continue to astound me with their enthusiasm and motivation for learning and desire to always do their best.
While I was away on Monday, reports from both children and Vinnie was that they had a fabulously fun time together. They spent time in the craft room tinkering on things they had been working on and did some writing about the weekend. I also heard they played “a lot” of Dodge Ball. I’m glad the children had such a lovely start to the week. On Tuesday, we continued practicing our backstroke (in the pool) with improvements in the children’s stamina and stroke developement being seen, in most. We started adding numbers together using expanded notation with the majority recognising that some of the problems required regrouping over into the 10’s and 100’s to find the correct answer. We also did some revision on what items go into the different recycling bins and watched a video about plastics in the Pacific, specifically the Great Ocean plastic patch, a floating island of debris and plastic. Those who had not already heard of this nor seen pictures were shocked to learn this was something that exists.
We also set up 2 x worm farms this week and learnt a little bit about worms. The 2 worm farms near our classroom are now LIVE and functioning, as farms. We’ll do some more revision on how they work on Monday before our excursion to Kimbriki on Tuesday. Thank you, to those parents who have offered to drive and spend the day with us. I sent an email (on Thursday) with information for our day.
Due to our excursion, we will miss our swimming on Tuesday, so we will go to the pool on Wednesday morning instead. Please note this change to the weeks timetable, and I will remind the children to bring swim gear for Wednesday.
Also, on Monday it is our turn to return books to Lane Cove library. Please make sure we have books come in to be returned. Thanks!
Love, Sarah
