Sarah’s Class Week 4 Term 3
Fizz, Whoop, Woosh, Bubble, Pop!!! Due to it being Science Week, we immersed ourselves in experiments this week. On Monday, we looked at who Rube Goldberg was and tested chain reactions using tracks and triggers for marbles and other types of balls to end up in a cup. We had a gorgeous morning on Tuesday at Pottery Green for our soccer. Individual children taught others (in small groups) a particular soccer skill. We then finished up with a rather tense game, altogether. Also on Tuesday, we did some reading, working on our fluency and comprehension. And we calculated AREA of shapes multiplying Length x Width.
On Wednesday morning we did 4 different Science experiments. We did Lightening paintings using food colouring and water sprayed onto paper. We observed the reaction between Vinegar and Bi carb of Soda to blow-up balloons. We looked at another reaction between shaving foam, water and food colouring and water, oil and food colouring to create fireworks in a glass jar and colourful clouds. On Thursday, using rubber bands and paddle pop sticks we made catapults and measured the length of different balls.
For our Rock and Water this week we played different games: Chinese Boxing and Sticky Hands. Both games focused on opponents trying to unbalance each other while recognising what happens when you are in your rock and then water. On Friday, all classes offered 1 experiment each for children to test, observe and discover. There were bubbles, balloons, obelic, volcanoes and electricity floating and fizzing in the classrooms.
Next week, is BOOK WEEK and our class will welcome a student teacher for the remainder of the Term.
Coming up on Tuesday, 23rd of September which falls in the last week of term, I have booked for us to go trampolining at Flip Out in Gladesville. The booking is from 10:30 – 11:30 am. We will need drivers to help get us there and back. If you can drive us and support the children while there then please let me know. I think we’ll need approx 5 drivers depending on how many children can travel in a car.
That’s it for another week!
Love, Sarah
