Jess and Susan Group Week 5 Term 1
From Jess
It’s been a busy but fun week, with the children showing great stamina. Our music lesson with Gemma was lovely, as we focused on listening carefully, matching pitch, and exploring the progressive nature of scales. Carnival was a gorgeous celebration and I was very proud to see the Spanish speakers in my class singing so bravely in front of the whole school!
In English, we’ve been working on the tricky apostrophe, learning where to place it on the right side of the “s” for singular or plural possession. We’ve also been enjoying our novel Blueback and continued practicing our summarizing skills. In maths, the children are really getting the hang of place value and are ready to move onto decimal places, including tenths and hundredths.
Next week, I’ll be on camp with the older children from Wednesday to Friday, so Susan will be covering for me at school. I’m sure everyone will have a great time!
Happy weekend,
Jess

I can’t believe how fast the term is flying by! Tuesday’s swimming provided more opportunities to build some stamina in the 25m lap pool, practice floating and have a go at safety steps. Thanks again to Jane for coming with us to the pool and sharing her expertise.
Thursday’s routine continued with perimeter in maths, ERICS, handwriting and PIPs. The Elders continued their PIP research and presentations on the chrome books. Some of the younger children completed their mind map plan of a presentation on poisonous plants, and were then able to move on to the next step utilising the chrome books. Most of the younger children should be on chrome books by the end of next lesson.
Have a great weekend!
