Wendy’s Group Week 5 Term 3

We had a wonderful trip to Canberra last week … many highlights and lots of fun. I hope you enjoyed the sample of photos in last week’s Newsletter. We completed a chart of Postives, Negatives and Interesting (PNI) aspects of the trip and planned our thank you letters to those who helped make it happen. Special thanks to Faith for coming with us! On Friday, I found out that Kylea Tink (Member for North Sydney) used a photo of us with her at Parliament House in her most recent community newsletter!

Unfortunately, I’ve been quite unwell this week so thank you to Fin and also to Meg, our student teacher, and Faith for managing Thursday and Friday. I hear the Book Parade was a great success!

This week in English, we have written thank you letters and reports, some reporting on aspects of the Canberra trip and some book reports. We’ve also begun spending time each week on a typing tutor program. Some of the children already type quite quickly but others are still very slow. This is not replacing handwriting of course!

In Maths, we revised measurement of length and conversions between units. We also looked at position and the Cartesian number plane.

We had our final DJ session with Nate on Monday and it will be fun to see everything going into action next Monday when the children will take turns being DJ!

Jump Rope for Heart has begun and it would be great if everyone can help their children to sign up and begin fundraising for the Heart Foundation. The actual Jump Off day is Tuesday 3rd September. On Tuesday this week for PE, Meg gave a terrific lesson on water polo, one of her areas of expertise! Meg ran a game on the basketball court which practised the skills in water polo and it went really well.

Only a short one this week. Stay well everyone! There’s a very nasty flu going around!

Love,
Wendy
