Wendy’s Group Week 4 Term 4

Play rehearsals are going well for our group… we are just hoping everyone will stay well! Two children in our group are sick with COVID at the moment and the rest of us are crossing our fingers we won’t get it this time round!

On the night of the play, our group has the opportunity to have a final rehearsal at the hall with the light and sound at 5 pm. Please make sure your child is there for that. It makes an enormous difference to the final performance if everyone is there for that. We’ll then take a break from 5:30-ish til the concert actually starts at 6 pm. Thank you SO much to Jess Poole for doing the sound effects for us!

Our two student teachers, Jessica and Lily, finished up on Wednesday and will be much missed by us all. They both expressed how lucky they feel to have been able to complete this prac at Currambena and to see our child-centred and inclusive style of education in action. Maybe they’ll be back as casual teachers when they have their approval to teach!

In other news, we have a resurgence of interest in the game of chess in our group! Different games all through the day and many different players. It’s great to see! We’ve also had visits from some of the water skinks that live in the drains and gullies around our room. They’re quite large and beautiful and we’re seeing them regularly around our room.

On Friday, we had a visit from Kal Glanznig…. coincidentally, Lane Cove Council is screening his film over the weekend and it’s being shown in Parliament in two weeks! We watched it last term and were so impressed with Kal’s energy and optimism about the planet and the environment. He spoke with the kids about what he’s doing and his messages were really positive and real. Then we all went down the slide since Kal is now a member of his local council and all visiting politicians go down the slide!!
