The Purple Hearts Week 5 Term 3

We have had a hyper focused week learning about Pterosaurs, particularly about the Pterodactyl and Pteranodon. We have been creating models and drawings. Then we labelled and wrote our informative sentences where we classified the creature as a flying reptile and described its characteristics.

In Maths we have spent more time breaking down numbers into how many tens and how many ones. We have practised with our tens frames and other concrete materials.

We have introduced our third set of sounds from our systematic phonics activities. They are on the front window of our classroom and are /v/ /w/ /y/ /z/ /k/ /e/ /n/ /j/ with the camera words – all is me no said they.

We will focus on a new dinosaur next week the Spinosaurus.

I have booked our class excursion to the Australian Museum for the 19^th of September. We will spend the morning in the museum looking at Dinosaurs and other Prehistoric Creatures before eating and playing in Hyde Park across the road and then coming back to school.

Because of tight numbers for the bus and for additional tickets to be booked for adults –

 We are walking to the library on Monday – let me know if you can join us.

In order to borrow from the library, the children need an account set up with the Lane Cove Library. We do not need to bring our physical cards in as the librarians have a class list with the codes set up.
