Vinnie’s The Purple Hearts Term 3 Week 3

he children voted to walk to the park for a play and a picnic for our sports choice this week. It is so nice to see and be a part of the walk as they show their road sense and general safety as we follow our agreements for walking and playing at the park. This involves stopping at roads and locking our lips before we cross. When we lock our lips, it helps us focus on the potential hazards around us. At the park, most of the class voted and played a mix of games, including Tag, Survivor Tag, and Hide and Seek.

This week we have been learning about dinosaurs, reading lots of facts and deciphering facts or opinions from the information we read. We started with learning about the Tyrannosaurus Rex – Tyrant Lizard King. The children labelled a picture of a T-Rex with its features.

We also began our informative writing with our sentence starters.

In Maths this week we have been looking at whole numbers up to 30, making more than 2 equal groups and calculating the total with a focus on mathematical language.

Thanks to Karen, Emma’s mum for coming in with Archana and Carolina to make some soup for the community. It was wonderful to share it with the community for our Philosophy evening.

Crafty has needed some time off to recover and the children have missed his presence in the craft room. We made an agreement to be patient with Sarah D as she replaces him. In craft they have begun plasticine creations and painting on canvas.
