The Ladybirds Week 2 Term 3

Hi Everyone,

On Monday, we celebrated our 101st Day of School! The children took part in lots of fun activities, including making crowns, drawing pictures of what they might look like at 101 years old, reimagining the number 101 through creative artworks, and ending the day with a scavenger hunt. The class worked together to solve clues and find puzzle pieces that revealed a large group photo!

In Maths, we’ve been exploring doubles, what they mean in addition and how they can be represented in different ways. In Investigation, we’re wrapping up our Marine Monsters unit in the lead-up to our Aquarium excursion in Week 4. This week, we looked at how sea creatures adapt through colour and shape to help them survive. To finish off the lesson, the children designed their own sea creatures and explained the reasoning behind their design choices. Their creativity was amazing!

We also had a special visit from Preschool this week, where we began learning about astronomy and had a lovely discussion about stars. It was wonderful to see the class stepping into the role of elders, helping and sharing their knowledge with the younger students.

Our Library visit, originally scheduled for Week 4, has been moved due to our excursion. We’ll now be visiting the Library this coming week, swapping times with Amelia’s class.

With love,
Meg
