The Ladybirds Week 10 Term 1
What a fantastic final week of Term 1 we’ve had in the Ladybird classroom!
In Maths, we explored patterns by designing beautiful Easter eggs. These eggs became the centre of a special science activity as we learned all about the life cycle of a chicken and the incubation process. Throughout the week, the children practised “incubating” their eggs on their special spots on the mat, and on Thursday, we crafted cosy nests for them. By Friday, the eggs had hatched into adorable little chicks!
In PDH, we continued our discussions around emotions and the importance of expressing our feelings and needs. We also came up with a helpful strategy for managing big emotions like frustration and anger.
In Sport, the children had a blast playing a game called Wreck It Ralph, which helped us further develop our fundamental movement skills. Over in Spanish, we took a delicious detour into the kitchen, cooking up some tasty new treats!
The Ladybirds worked incredibly hard all week and proudly earned their final three spots. This meant we got to celebrate with a Teddy Bear Picnic in the Park on Friday! As a special surprise, my mum brought along my dogs, and the children had a great time throwing the ball and playing chasings with the puppies. We also enjoyed some very special sweet treats!
A huge thank you to all the families who provided picnic mats and food for our celebration, and a very special shout-out to Orlando and Steph for coming along to lend a hand.
It’s been a big, wonderful first term for the Ladybirds, and each child should feel incredibly proud of their growth and achievements. Wishing you all a safe and restful school holidays—I can’t wait to see everyone back at school in a few weeks!
With love,
Meg (and Sarah D)
