The Ladybirds Week 1 Term 3
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Term 3!
It’s been a great start to the term, even though it was a slightly unusual one with the week beginning on a Wednesday. This change in routine gave us the opportunity to ease into the term with some fun craft activities, holiday sharing, and writing recounts of our break.
We also spent time reflecting on our class agreements. As a group, we discussed what’s been working well, what we might want to change, and added new ideas to better support our classroom community. We then co-wrote our updated agreements and created illustrations to help us remember them. The final product now hangs proudly at the front of our classroom!
This week, we were also excited to welcome a new class member, Hoppity Hops, our class pet! Each weekend, Hoppity Hops will go home with a different child, who will have the chance to document their time together. This is a great opportunity for students to practise responsibility, respect, and build their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.
On Friday, we celebrated our 100th day of learning! The class created a large “100 Days of School” poster and decorated ladybirds with 100 spots in total. We wrapped up the day with a fantastic dance party and it was wonderful to see everyone encourage and support each other’s performances. Since our 100th day landed on a Free Friday, the class decided to extend the celebration to 101 days of learning on Monday, where we’ll explore the concept of 100 as 100 ones, and how numbers continue to grow beyond.
A quick update for families interested in helping out with station rotations, Weeks 2–5 are currently booked, but we’re still looking for volunteers from August 26th onwards. If you’re available on one of the Tuesdays from 10:15 – 11:00am and would like to volunteer, please email me.
Finally, a friendly reminder, if your child is away for more than 3 consecutive days due to illness, the school requires a doctor’s certificate to approve the absence. Please email this through to the office when needed.
Looking forward to a busy, fun, and exciting term ahead!
With love,
Meg
