The Axolotls: Term 1 Week 8
Dear families,
It has been a very fun and busy week in the Axolotl class. Here is a summary of our learning this week:
- Excursion to the Art Gallery of NSW: Art Express exhibition.
- Craft with Sarah – blow art.
- Group interest project with Amelia’s class – Oceans. An inquiry into penguins and experimenting with waterproof materials.
- Social skill focus – keeping ourselves safe and behaving responsibly on excursions.
- Summerhill Day – choosing activities and visiting different rooms/teachers/students across the school.
- Enjoying fruit from our community fruit bowl.
- Class meeting – reflecting on our class agreement and discussing expectations for our excursion.
Juniors (Early Stage 1)
- Soundwaves and Literacy stations (with Joanna) – phoneme – grapheme relationship (letter sounds) t,s.
- Mathematics – forming groups, equal or not equal.
- Individual reading with Joanna/ Parent helper (every child)
- Recording a recount (excursion) through drawing and mark-making.
Elders (Stage 1)
- Literacy stations (with Faith) – group reading, Soundwaves books.
- Soundwaves – i. Reading and spelling cvc, cvcc, ccvcc words.
- Mathematics – forming groups, exploring multiplication by sharing and grouping.
- Recording a recount through drawing and writing descriptive sentences.
Next week our Elders have swimming on Tuesday. We also look forward to welcoming you all on Friday evening (27th) at 5pm, for our ‘What Matters’ Festival.
