Sarah’s Class Week 6 Term 3

Hello!

I hope you’ve all been soaking in the rays and enjoying the beautiful Spring weather. We’ve had another good week exploring Area and Perimeter, and measuring the distance around shapes and the area within them. On Wednesday, James started teaching the group about Angles. They went through Interactive Google Slides on Acute, Right, Obtuse, Straight, Reflex and Revolution angles and then played an online quiz to practice.

Story writing and book making continues and good progress is being made in the children’s personal projects.  James has moved on from liquids, solids and gases to Body Systems and this week they started learning about Vertebrates and Invertebrates.

Our PE choice for this week was Capture the Flag which the children enjoyed, and I am well impressed with the skills the children are developing in coding through Scratch. Much progress in their ability has been made over the last few weeks. Some children have coded games and short animated stories with music and movement.

We had a fabulous spray painting lesson on Thursday with Vinnie, Matt (Alana’s dad) and Louis (friend of Crafty’s). Go and check the fences up near preschool and in the bottom playground. Friday was “Wear it Purple Day” and it was wonderful to see so much ‘purple’ and rainbow floating around in support. Mabel (from Wendy’s) read the whole school a book at school meeting to help celebrate.

Next Monday, 2nd is our turn again to visit Lane Cove library, so please return any books from home for this.

Thankyou for signing up for our parent/teacher interviews and spreading yourselves across the 4 weeks. I am very much looking forward to our chat!

That’s it for this weeks folks.

Love, Sarah
