Sarah’s Class Week 6 Term 2
Hi Everybody,
Hope you’re all having a lovely, longer weekend. We had a very engaging week this week with some large blocks of time discussing our social, emotional wellbeing. Using a program called “Grow your Mind” – I may previously have mentioned – we listened to a couple of episodes from the podcast and then did a follow-up activity on each theme. This week our focus was on Respect and Teamwork. After listening to the episodes and put into practice ‘teamwork’ the children worked together in small groups and were challenged to navigate a Hula hoop over, under and around their closed circle. I was surprised how well they problem solved this and supported each other to maneuver it around each other. They expressed it wasn’t much of a challenge after the first ‘loop’ and enjoyed working with peers who were not their friends. In their small groups the children also shared thoughts and wrote down what Respect looks, sounds and feels like.
Other things we did were to visit Lane Cove library with Amelia’s group. We were made more aware of our surroundings as we navigated sharing the footpath, for quite a way, with some elderly people. As a large group, we were forced to stop every now and again to acknowledge the importance of walking with awareness.
