Sarah’s Class Week 4 Term 1
Hello everybody,
I hope you’ve had a nice weekend and past week.
We’ve been ‘smashing’ through our practice of understanding place value of numbers and this week we learnt about expanded notation into the thousands and tens of thousands. The majority of children have excellent knowledge of reading, writing and recognising patterns in numbers which is very exciting to see. The cogs are turning and ‘clicks’ being made! Also this week, we’ve been focusing on jazzing sentences up, taking a simple sentence and making it more interesting with the inclusion of describing words ie. adjectives and adverbs.
The children are off and running with their mini projects on recycling and are learning a lot on how to navigate their way around using Google slides. They are also learning more about researching for the right information, transferring this (to slides) using the keyboard and finding a relevant picture to include. They are all picking these skills up very quickly and some are even keen to continue working on it during their Free Friday. On our topic, we also watched a video on Global Warming and made posters to display the impact this is having on our earth.
At the pool for swimming this week we worked on our kicking, also backstroke wall starts and moving through the water in a streamline position using straight arms. We have a series of movements we do most mornings to get ready for each day of learning, and on Thursday we did a little meditation exercise at the end. All the children embraced this practice and responded positively.
And that’s us for another week, folks!
Love, Sarah
