Sarah’s class Week 3 Term 4

Dear Parents,

We’ve had a great week this past week!

We welcomed another student teacher – James – to our class this week. As this will be his first practicum experience at a school he will only be with us for 2 weeks. The children were gorgeous at welcoming him into our fold. On our visit to Lane Cove Library (on Monday) it was gorgeous to see a lot of children sharing books and reading to each other.

For our Maths this week, we looked at more properties of our 3D shapes, recognising the difference between a Prism, a Pyramid and Nets of shapes. Tuesday, the ‘elders’ had a fabulous time at the theatre watching the Sydney Dance Company perform “Continuum” with William Barton on the Didgeridoo. But the highlight of this excursion would have to have been rolling down the grass hill at Barangaroo. The children had a gorgeous time rolling their bodies down the hill – twas very funny! The group at school had a lovely day too with Archana. They went swimming and made shapes using toothpicks and plasticine.

Wednesday, I was away at a professional development workshop on Aboriginal perspectives in education, and Pepper said everything ran smoothly which was good to hear. Costumes are busily being made and rehearsals are getting tighter with EVERYBODY knowing ALL their lines = no more scripts!!!!

Halloween parade was a blast with more children adorning creepy and funny costumes than previously.

I think that’s it for us this week.

Love Sarah
