Sarah’s Class Week 3 Term 4

Hellloooooooooo!!

Halloweeeeeeenn was the hottest topic in town this week with a massive focus on the children being ‘grateful’ for this celebration and parade. I think the number of children dressed up on Thursday has been the largest contingent I have seen in all the years they have been doing it. Ghosts, ghouls, murderers, witches, killer clowns, zombies and devils paraded around the school and then at 3:00 pm set off down streets, trick or treating.

Other things happening this week included some serious writing, story writing and handwriting. We looked at different times in both analog and digital and we did some reading and we visited Lane Cove library. The children have taken off into the pool like a duck to water showcasing their abililty to swim several laps and perform dives. I have been impressed with their stamina and swimming technique. Bec came in for drama, and Nate came and did another session in Hip Hop. We did lots more play practice and costume making and a few props were made.

I ended up showing the children where they would be sleeping in the lodge at camp and we wrote a couple of sentences on what we are excited and nervous about. As you can imagine there is a range of excitement and nerves. Some children are not nervous about anything and others are apprehensive about getting to sleep (on their own) and being away from home. All completely normal feelings. But its good to voice this, so all the children know to be sensitive to each other and how they are feeling.

I think that’s it!

Love, Sarah
