Sarah’s Class Week 1 Term 2
Well, what a way to start the term!!!! Being knocked down with a nasty chest/respiratory cold was not on the agenda nor in my planning. Thanks to Archana and Pepper for stepping in to take the class while I was absent. Reports on their days with the group were so lovely to hear with the children being a delight to manage through designated activities.
We started this week looking at ANZAC DAY and covered what the acronym stands for, where the Army Corps fought and why. We read a story about Anzac biscuits and in small groups Faith supported the children to make the most delicious Anzac biscuits. We discovered why the plants Poppies and Rosemary are used as tokens of remembrance and the children created Pop Art Poppies. They also wrote a reflection of what they had learnt on the event and why it is annually celebrated on April 25th.
Other things completed while I was away: the majority of children have chosen what topic they are going to research for their Personal Interest Project throughout the term. And PE choices were decided upon also. We will start the rotation of 2 PE choices from week 3 where a number of selected activities will be covered over the 8 weeks: dance, pickelball, yoga, soccer, bush walking & games at school are the activities children have chosen from.
Our Lane Cove library visits will resume from week 3 and we look forward to starting back with music with Gemma tomorrow.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the children tomorrow.
Love, Sarah
