Sarah’s Class: Term 3 Week 6

Dear Parents,

Short n Sweet this week!

We’ve had such a creative and busy week immersing ourselves into our Aztec shield making!! With resources taking over the classroom space (for 2 days) and children getting lost in their creations, shields took flight to showcase each individual child’s difference, diversity and importance.

On Monday, when we visited Lane Cove Library we borrowed a set of books celebrating children’s diversity and difference, focusing on LGBTQIA+ stories. Each afternoon this past week we’ve been reading a story or two which has supported the lead into “Wear it Purple Day” on Friday. Thank you, to Meg’s class for the baking of cakes and contributing to the “Wear it Purple Day” charity on the sales.

Monday morning saw lots of fabulous costumes and book characters paraded around the school which was a gorgeous way to start the week.

Thank you to Carolina for the lesson on Zumba and teaching the children about the origin of this dance and exercise.

As mentioned in a separate email we are hoping to have our class photo taken Monday morning at 9:45 AM. Please, make sure your child is at school on time for this. We are very lucky to have a past parent, Jackie Chan, come to the school especially to take photos and it would be terrific to have full attendance on this day.

Also this coming week we have our annual “Jump Rope for Heart” afternoon where Meg’s class will host the school in skipping for the afternoon. There will be stations where different skills will be taught and fruit handed out once a skill has been mastered.
