Sarah’s Class: Term 3 Week 5

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful, creative and BUSY week we’ve had!! Our excursion to the Museum of Sydney on Monday sailed in and out smoothly. Thankyou, to Michael (Teacher’s assistant) and Kaleem (Fatima’s dad) for being the additional designated drivers and to Jess and Olivia for the loan of their cars. Unfortunately, the weather was not agreeable for us to visit the Gardens for morning tea/lunch so after our tour of the Museum – which the children really enjoyed – we headed straight back to school. The tour consolidated all our learning from last term on colonisation and life before for the Aboriginal people.

In light of this being Science week: Tuesday morning, we had a gorgeous time designing, making and testing paper aeroplanes and kinetic energy using paper cups and rubber bands. Class groups across Primary were combined for 2 sessions where children worked beautifully together to test the aeronautics of unusual shaped flying machines and to see how high a cup can fly into the sky. We had the last of our 1st PE choices that afternoon and then…… Wednesday was the start of our ART WEEK.

In cross-age/stage groups we rotated from making Zines with Siobhan to charcoal drawings of Monsters with Neil to learning about actions in front of a Green Screen with Jackie to using an app called Procreate to design backgrounds with Ryan. Thank you, to all of the artists and Crafty for another amazing week of immersive creativity and art. It will be fabulous to see all the children’s work come together at the exhibition on Sunday. Hope you can make it!!

Next week, Monday, starting at 9am is our BOOK WEEK parade. Encourage your child to dressup as their favourite book character for the day and come along for the parade. And…. It will be our turn to visit Lane Cove Library that afternoon, so return books from home please. And…. Friday, encourage your child to wear a little purple and/or rainbow for Wear it Purple Day!
