Sarah’s Class: Term 3 Week 1

Dear Parents,

Welcome Back!! I hope you are all well and had a nice break from school drop-offs and pickups. A short week this week, so we held off starting anything with any great depth. However, we did have a discussion about what will be happening and coming up! We sorted PE choices for the term, allocated jobs for Sustaining and welcomed our new student – Tynan – into the class. Already, she has been made to feel comfortable and included. The children all chose their project topics for this term which are, as expected, interesting and varied.

Topics we will be researching and investigating throughout the term will include travelling back through time, again, but this time to the Ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica and the Andes which include the Maya, Aztec and Inca civilisations. Our Science focus during the term will include classifying Living Things in Habitats and ecosystems and for our Maths this term our focus will be on looking at units of Measurement. We have an excursion booked for Monday, 17th August, to the Museum of Sydney which will focus on Aboriginal history and time before Settlement, linking back to last term’s topic. I’m looking into our least expensive transport options to and from the city. As I only have 13 children it might be feasible to catch the bus there and back or, if there are 2 of you who have a 6 – 7 seater vehicle and could be available that day, I’d love to hear from you. Then, the cost will only be on the parking.

This coming Monday, tomorrow, Kym will return for music and we have Lane Cove Library in the afternoon. So return any books from home please. PE choices will resume from Tuesday afternoon where the children will start the 1st of their 2 choices for 4 weeks. Pickleball, Games
at School, Basketball, Soccer and Traditional Indigenous Games were the choices for the first round.

I am about to start the process of writing your children’s reports and hope to have them all completed and ready to start interviews either week 3 Monday, 3rd Aug, or week 4 Monday, 10th. But when I see myself closer to completion, I will email you with a timetable, for you to sign-up for a time. Thank you, for your patience with this.
