Sarah’s Class: Term 1 Week 9

Dear Parents,

What a week AND what a term of….. “What Matters”. It’s been a very full and rich topic that all classes embedded their learning into this term. I hope the children will take away some knowledge of the things we are so lucky to have in our lives – the things that matter – Family, Friends, Animals, Food, Water and Shelter, Kindness, Hopes and Dreams, Being Grateful, Peace and Love. We’ve been on a journey (this term) exploring people and the wonders of their achievements. We’ve read many stories about their accomplishments and reflected upon the possibilities which we could aspire to achieve, in our own lives.

I truly hope you enjoyed the children’s life stories they created which were presented at our ‘Festival’. They ALL worked incredibly hard on their little books and dreams of what they could become. Throughout the term the group have often surprised me with their thinking and ability to share themselves and be the beautiful humans they are. I feel blessed to be a part of their world and excited for the rest of the year ahead.

Other things we did this past week were playing Pickleball for our PE. We practiced bat and ball skills and were challenged with some very tight scoring matches. For our Maths we problem solved subtraction strategies and revised what a fraction is. All children bar 2 have completed their project presentations on a chosen famous person. The standard of research and presentation was high with the group using palm cards to present the facts and information to the audience. I felt very proud of the effort invested and how it all came together.

Next week, our last week, for our final day on Thursday, we voted to go up to the shops to buy our lunch and watch a movie. The movie will be decided upon this coming week and a discussion about how much money they can bring will be dependent on what they wish to buy.

Thank you, for all your ongoing support.

Love, Sarah
