Sarah’s Class: Term 1 Week 8

Hello dear parents,

I hope you’ve had a good weekend.

We certainly immersed ourselves in creativity and culture this past week. Tuesday’s excursion to the Art Gallery was full of amazement and wonder. The children loved visiting the underground playground, “The Key’s Under the Mat” choosing to spend their time wandering around looking at the different structures, climbing and swinging on the equipment. We had morning tea there and then ventured up to Art Express. It was so inspirational for our children’s “What Matters” art work to see how people express themselves and also include some context of what their art is about through a statement. In light of this, the children have been writing some beautiful little ‘statements’ to include with their works for the FESTIVAL this Friday.

Aside from focusing on getting things done for the festival and busily completing other work and enjoying our first Summerhill Day for the year, on Wednesday, we had a visit from Janan’s father Ali, who dressed up and spoke to us about “Nowruz” which is Persian New Year. It has been a tradition for him to come in each year and share Janan’s family culture through this celebration.

This coming week, on Monday please pack any borrowed books from Lane Cove library, as it is our turn to return them.

Project presentations will commence taking place on Tuesday morning starting at 9:30 AM and then again on Wednesday afternoon starting at 1:30 PM.
