Sarah’s Class: Term 1 Week 6

Dear Parents,

Hope you’ve had a nice weekend. We’ve had a great week embedding ourselves into the lives of people who have done things that matter! Using the “Little People Big Dreams” series of books we’ve been reading lots of stories about individuals and their lives. The children chose one particular person to write a passage on and paired this with a gorgeous artwork. As part of this the children have been writing their own stories about their life and projecting thoughts and ideas, into the future, about something they could be remembered for.

In Maths, we have been looking at Rounding Numbers and played games on whether we Round up or down into the next 10’s and 100’s. The group are becoming much more adept at getting through the expected pages in their text books each week and are very understanding that the workload increases and changes, as they grow each year.

Lego and construction toys are HOT in our class room at the moment with children engaging with each other over Magna Tiles, Zoobz and good old fashioned wooden blocks.

Thanks to Faith and Wendy P who stepped into the classroom while I went to a couple of appointments. It was so nice the group got some Wendy time and she said she loved the group too.

Next week, we are swimming on Tuesday for the last time this term. I’d LOVE a parent to come and support us in the morning, if possible. Let me know if you’re free from 9:30 – 11:00 AM with WWCC. If not then we’ll be going in the afternoon.
