Preschool News: Week 9 Term 4
Hello everyone,
As we reach the final pages of this year’s newsletter, it feels like a truly bittersweet moment. The year seems to have passed so quickly, and yet when we pause and look back, we are reminded of just how rich, full, and meaningful it has been.
Earlier in the year, the children proudly participated in Children’s Voices for Reconciliation, travelling up to The Canopy to sing and share their voices as part of this important event. It was a powerful experience, both for the children and for us as educators, to witness their confidence, courage, and sense of purpose as they stood together and contributed to something bigger than themselves. Throughout the year, we continued to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the curriculum, with children being empowered through social justice learning that deepened their understanding of First Nations peoples.
This week’s preschool afternoon tea felt like a beautiful culmination of the year. More than just a social event, it was a celebration of how capable young children truly are. The children planned, prepared, served, welcomed guests, and took on responsibility with such care and pride. They demonstrated that when children are trusted, supported, and given genuine opportunities, they are able to engage in tasks well beyond what is often expected of them. The joy, confidence, and sense of achievement on their faces said it all.
Throughout the year, we have shared many special moments, the school concert filled with creativity and bravery, our much-loved Tuesday buddies, Wednesday Spanish classes with the passionate and encouraging Carolina, ongoing music and drama experiences, and rich creative group times where ideas flourished. Our Thursday craft lessons with Crafty Chris brought enormous delight and deep learning, as children explored a wide range of materials and creative techniques, and a strong sense of accomplishment. In Term 4, Chris Price joined us for sewing sessions, where children worked patiently with the sewing machine and fabric, demonstrating focus, perseverance, and pride in their work. Being part of the Lantern Festival at Tambourine Bay, including the Loch Nest Monster and Dragon, along with our many social gatherings, further strengthened our sense of community and belonging.
To our families, thank you for your continued support and for entrusting your children to us. We are deeply grateful for the partnership we share with you. Whether your child continues their journey at Currambena or moves on to another school, we are confident they will carry a part of preschool with them, the relationships, the learning, and the memories, wherever they go.
It has been a privilege to share this year with your children. We wish you a restful and joyful break, and we look forward to all that lies ahead.
