Preschool News Week 9 Term 3

Hello everyone,

It has been a whirlwind of events this week.

On Monday the children voted not to go to Kimberley Playground, choosing instead to stay at school and enjoy the Top Playground. Canteen always draws great excitement, with children enjoying the independence of purchasing items. Music with Kym was a highlight of the day, with ukuleles proving to be both fun and engaging.

Tuesday was another big day. Buddy Time in Wendy’s class was much enjoyed, and Chris spent the day with us, offering children the chance to design an item and then bring it to life through sewing. This week also marked the conclusion of our astronomy project. We reviewed everything we had learned, and the children revisited some of their favourite hands-on experiences. Ladybirds joined us as we reflected together, and the children delighted in breaking up rocks with hammers, building the Earth with layers of plasticine, creating reflective drawings with metallic markers on black paper, and exploring volcanoes and fossils.

On Thursday, Crafty joined us in preschool to introduce the children to the work of Matisse and the art of collage. Inspired, the children created vibrant and imaginative collage pieces of their own.

A big thank you to Sam (June’s dad) and Mauro (Isla’s dad), who are working with Jane (primary parent) and Wendy (primary teacher) on landscaping projects around the preschool. We are especially excited about the plans to remove compacted mulch and further beautify the preschool play space.
