Preschool News Week 8 Term 3

Hello everyone,

What a week of contrasts! We began on Monday with a super-hot, sunny day that had us reaching for hats and water bottles. Our trip to the park was an enjoyable adventure, full of laughter, climbing, and running, though the heat made us especially grateful for shady trees and rest breaks as we headed back to school.

By midweek the weather had completely turned, with heavy rain pouring down for much of the day. The children were captivated by the puddles growing outside and the sound of rain, while indoors preschool was abuzz with play, storytelling, and the ever-popular cubby house making. By Friday, the week ended with a calm, cool, sunny day, just right for outdoor play and tending to our garden.

Chris P returned on Tuesday to sew with the children, offering everyone the opportunity to bring their drawn designs to life with fabric and thread. This was an amazing experience for many children and one we thank her greatly for. Cubby making also continues to be a big part of our days, with children collaborating, planning, and negotiating as they build their imaginative spaces together.

Our program has been filled with curiosity and discovery. In astronomy we extended our learning about the earth’s crust by investigating fossils, making plaster casts and examining skeletons, linking play and inquiry to the natural world. Out in the garden, we were delighted to find our sunflower seeds beginning to sprout, bringing much excitement and anticipation for what will grow in the weeks ahead.

It has been a week of learning, joy, and adaptability. These experiences remind us how important collaboration and community are in our preschool, with children, educators, and families working side by side to create a place of belonging and shared discovery.
