Preschool News Week 6 Term 3

Hello everyone,

It feels like we skipped a season and headed straight to summer this week. As the UV index rises, a friendly reminder to pop a brimmed or legionnaire hat in your child’s bag each day. Please also apply sunscreen to your child on arrival, we’ll apply more as needed throughout the day.

This week we introduced a new component to our daily program called Children’s Group Time. Children are currently being assisted by a teacher to run a group activity, everyone in preschool is able to choose if they want to participate. There’s been a great deal of interest in this activity by almost everyone, it’s proving to be a great opportunity for children to work collaboratively.

In group time we’ve been focussing on the zones of regulation, dinosaurs, the sun, fire and fire safety. We also looked at the meaning behind Wear It Purple Day and celebrated the importance of accepting diversity. The children had a great time in craft learning about spray paint art with the visiting artists this week. Our side fence now looks amazing! We had Lane Cove Fire and Rescue visit preschool with their fire truck to discuss fire safety on Friday. A great way to consolidate the children’s learning on the work we have been doing on this.
