Preschool News Week 5 Term 4
Hello everyone,
Another fun and action-packed week in preschool, filled with creative play, concert rehearsals and Spanish sessions. The children have been engaged in learning, connection and community, and we are looking forward to the exciting weeks ahead as we move into a very busy end of term.
A reminder that Vision Screening will be visiting preschool on Tuesday 18 November to provide free vision checks for all children aged four and above. This is a wonderful opportunity to check your child’s vision before school, and it is free for all families, including those without Medicare cards. However, we do need your permission form returned before screening can take place. At this stage, only a handful of forms have come back, so please return yours as soon as you can. If your child does not usually attend on a Tuesday, please let Katrina know and we will organise a time at around 10.00 am for your child to come in briefly and be screened first.
The excitement for our annual school concert is building each day as the children rehearse their performance. They have learned all the moves with confidence and enthusiasm. The concert will be held at Norths on Friday 21 November, and we hope to see all preschool families there. Please return your child’s signed permission form so they can travel by bus with staff to Norths for the morning rehearsal. If your child does not attend on Fridays and you are available, you are warmly invited to meet us directly at Norths during the morning. We will confirm our approximate arrival time early next week. The concert is always one of the highlights of the preschool year, and we are very excited to share this experience with you.
Preparations have also begun for our annual Thank You Afternoon Tea, which will be held on Thursday 11 December from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. The children have started designing invitations, so please check with your child and also check their bags. If your child does not usually attend on Thursdays, they are still very much part of this, and we encourage your child and family to join us for this special celebration. It would be lovely if they could arrive just before two o’clock so they can be part of the final preparations for the occasion.
Throughout the week, children have been involved in a wide range of learning experiences. Indoors and outdoors, children have enjoyed puppet-making, puppet shows, collaborative board games, reading activities, water play, and lots of imaginative play. Our Spanish session with Carolina focused on food vocabulary and conversational phrases, and we have had visits from primary buddies, who joined in with games and creative activities.
Thank you to Anja and her family for donating new plastic balance planks for our outdoor area. And as always, thank you to our wonderful washing fairies for your ongoing help and support behind the scenes. A huge thank you also to Chris P for coming in on Tuesday and sewing with the children, always a big highlight of our week!
