Preschool News: Week 5 Term 2

Hello everyone,

It’s been a week full of connection, community, and learning at Currambena Preschool. The children have been deeply engaged in conversations and activities around Reconciliation Week, exploring what it means to bridge the past, present, and future. A highlight was our participation in the 28th Children’s Voices for Reconciliation event at The Canopy. The children approached the day with a beautiful mix of excitement, patience, and courage, some taking to the stage, while others supported from the audience, all part of the shared journey. A heartfelt thank you to our Buddies in Wendy’s class, and to Wendy herself for playing guitar alongside the children.

Throughout the week, we’ve also been reflecting on the themes of inclusion and fairness. In our conversations and play, the children have asked thoughtful questions, shared stories, and shown empathy for one another. We’re so proud of the way they are developing a sense of belonging and community.

Looking ahead to next week:

Kimberley Playground routine Park Excursion – Monday: We’ll be heading off to the park on Monday morning. Please aim to arrive as close as possible to 9:00am so we have time to get organised before we leave.

Library Visit – Wednesday: Our fortnightly library visit will take place on Wednesday morning. Again, please aim for a 9:00am arrival to ensure a smooth start to the day.

Cool Planet Recycling Sessions – All Welcome! We’re excited to continue our partnership with Mayuko from Cool Planet, who will be guiding us through a series of sustainability workshops:

Wednesday 4 June, 1:30am – Bin/Signage Set-Up & Composting Session

Wednesday 11 June, 9:30am – 2nd Waste Audit & Re-using Session.

We warmly invite children who don’t usually attend on Wednesdays to join us for these sessions—it’s a wonderful way to get involved and build on our sustainability learning.
