Preschool News Week 4 Term 4
Hello everyone,
What a full and fun week we have had in preschool. The children have been busy, engaged and wonderfully collaborative in their play and group times, and it has been lovely to watch their ideas unfold across the days. Our annual Preschool Thank You Afternoon Tea is coming up soon and invitations will be sent out shortly. This special event will be held on Thursday 11 December from 2.00 to 3.00 pm, so please pop that date in your diary. We are already deep in preparations and are very excited to welcome you into the preschool to share food, connection and celebration.
We also have the vision screening program coming to Currambena Preschool on Tuesday 18 November for children aged four years and over. If this is not your child’s usual day, please let me know and I can organise an early appointment time, so you are not waiting around. Paper consent forms must be completed and returned before screening can occur. If you have not been given a form yet, please come and speak to one of us and we will make sure you receive one.
Concert preparations have taken on a life of their own this week, with children practising their movements each day for our grand finale and beginning to create the backdrops that will accompany them on stage. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it has been wonderful seeing how proud they are of their efforts. Alongside this, each child has begun designing their own t shirt for our end of year celebrations and their creativity has really shone.
We had a successful evacuation on Tuesday, with the children assembling quickly and walking out of the school and back again with great cooperation and confidence. Experiences like these remind us how capable the children are when they work together. On Wednesday we enjoyed our second last visit to Lane Cove Library for the year. The children did an excellent job staying within our walking bus and listening to instructions, and they loved choosing books to bring back to preschool.
Across the week, mud kitchen play and cubby house construction have been highlights for many of the children. They continue to show impressive independence when building and experimenting with materials. Hot wheels and dress ups remain very popular too. It has been especially lovely to see how inclusive children have been in their play, with new relationships forming and children showing care and kindness towards one another as the year begins to wind down.
