Preschool News Week 4 Term 1

Hello everyone,

It’s been a big week in preschool as we completed our Rating & Assessment from the Department of Education under the National Quality Standards. This process evaluated our preschool across seven key areas, including educational program and practice, health and safety, physical environment, staffing, relationships with children, governance, and leadership. We expect to receive the outcome in around four weeks and will share it with you once it arrives.

Lisa, Abi, and I are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support throughout this process. Thank you to Olivia, who worked in preschool during the two-day assessment period, allowing me to spend time with the Compliance Officer to discuss our unique democratic principles, practices, and share the documentation around this with her.  I’m especially glad the assessment is behind us, so I can return to what I love most at Currambena—building relationships with children and co-constructing learning.

Now four weeks into the term, it’s wonderful to see everyone feeling settled and embracing the rhythm of preschool life. Our exploration of astronomy continues, with stars sparking curiosity and wonder. As a group, we’re enjoying games, storytelling, music, and movement, all of these things are fostering connection and joy.

Looking ahead to Week 5, we’re excited to join Meg’s class for some music sessions, and we will also begin exploring protective behaviours and conflict resolution as part of our program.
