Preschool News Term 3 Week 3

Hello everyone,

It’s been a lovely week in preschool with a thousand and one things happening as always.

A big focus of the week was learning about dental hygiene as part of Dental Health Week. Abi conducted a fabulous science experience that demonstrated the effect sugar has on teeth. We learnt about milk/baby and adult teeth, focused on health and unhealthy food and how they impact our teeth, we looked at the structure of teeth and the names of different teeth in a human and sang lots of songs about brushing our teeth. The culmination of dental week was Friday when Hazel lost her first tooth, a great way to finish the week! We’ve also revisited some of our prior learning on volcanoes and dinosaurs, headed off on an archaeological dig, and unearthed dinosaurs in the sandpit which led to a huge dramatic Jurassic Park game that we envisage will continue over the coming weeks as there were so many engaged and excited preschool people that really couldn’t get enough of it!

We had a lovely visit to the Lane Cove Library on Wednesday as well as lots of fun in Spanish with Carolina, a great buddies time on Tuesday and heaps of fun at our DJ class on Monday. The preschool tramps were brought out with lots of jumping and music as well as loads of dramatic play on the preschool boat.

We’re planning to focus on learning about fire and fire safety next week. We’re aiming to have a preschool fire (the children have been busily collecting kindling for it) and hopefully a visit from Fire and Rescue in the coming weeks.

That’s a wrap for week 3!

Love,

Katrina, Lisa, Abi and Anna
