Preschool News Week 10 Term 1

Hello everyone,

It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of Term 1; time truly flies when you’re having fun! We’ve had a wonderful start to the year, and it was so lovely to see so many preschool families at the Drumming Social last Friday. Events like these really highlight the strength and spirit of our Currambena community.

The mud kitchen continues to be a fantastic space for children to connect through sensory play with sand, dirt, and water. Last Friday, we relocated the preschool boat and car frame into this area, which has sparked some beautiful, collaborative play and strengthened connections between peers.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve really seen the group come together. There’s a strong sense of care and connection throughout preschool, with many lovely friendships blossoming. Our Elders have embraced their leadership roles with thoughtfulness and care, welcoming and supporting our newer children as they find their place. We’re excited to watch these social dynamics continue to grow in Term 2.

We’ve also been focusing on problem solving in play during group times, alongside plenty of music, musical games, and ongoing learning about our preschool agreements.

Looking ahead to next term, we’re planning to spread our wings into the wider Lane Cove community. From Week 2, we’ll begin fortnightly visits to Lane Cove Library, and we’re also planning to start regular excursions to Kimberley Playground on Mondays. These outings will give the children new opportunities for connection, exploration, and learning beyond our gates.

Wishing you all a restful Easter and a joyful school holiday break. We can’t wait to see everyone back in Term 2, refreshed, re-energised, and ready for more adventures!
