Preschool News: Term 3 Week 9

Hello everyone,

Spring may have sprung, but this week has also brought us what feels like four seasons in one! We have had some beautiful warmer moments, followed by a couple of freezing days and what felt very much like an Arctic blast. The changing weather has certainly kept us guessing.

Our Monday visit to Kimberley Playground was delightful. It is always so lovely to get out and about in our local community, and the children made the most of the open space, playground equipment and time to explore together. These outings continue to be a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, independence and connections beyond Currambena’s gate.

Back at preschool, the water trough and water play continue to be very popular, despite the temperature changes. There has also been lots happening in the mud kitchen, including some gardening, digging, mixing and experimenting. It is lovely to see the collaboration that develops so naturally in these spaces, with children sharing ideas, negotiating roles and building on each other’s play.

Summerhill Day was another highlight this week. We had lots of fun exploring what was happening around the school and joining in with the spirit of the day. It is always a wonderful opportunity for preschool children to connect with the wider school community and experience a little more of what happens beyond our own space.

Across the week, it has been lovely to continue seeing friendships strengthen, new connections developing and children working together in increasingly thoughtful and collaborative ways. Our multicultural social was also a fabulous way to finish the week. It was lovely to come together as a community, share food, conversations and cultures, and enjoy time together outside the usual rhythm of the day.

As we head towards the end of term, we are beginning to reflect on just how much has happened, how much the children have grown, and all the wonderful experiences we have shared together. We’ve placed an end of term maintenance list next to the preschool front door. If you would like to get ahead with maintenance hours for next term, or would simply like to help us out in preschool, please add your name to the list.

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you in Week 10.

Warmly,
Katrina, Lisa, Lida and Meeta
