Preschool News: Term 2 Week 9

Hello everyone,

It has been another eventful and gorgeous week in preschool, with lots happening.

Some of our highlights included the portrait painting the children did on Thursday during Craft, and the support they continue to show one another in their play. There has also been a growing interest in the World Cup, which has opened up lovely conversations about children’s cultural backgrounds and where their families come from. It was especially lovely to see everyone cheering on Colombia on Thursday.

A reminder, further to my recent email, that we are offering developmental health checks for children in preschool. These are slightly different from the checks offered through your early childhood health service, as they include cognitive development within the preschool setting and involve collaboration between visiting allied health professionals and myself as an early childhood teacher. I have completed a large amount of training in this area and will continue to do so in preparation. We do need a certain number of children to participate for the checks to go ahead, so please get in touch if you are interested.

As you know, I have sent a few emails asking whether your child is returning for a second year of preschool or heading off to primary school next year. For families moving on to primary school, I need a Transition to School consent form completed and returned, regardless of whether you would like me to complete the full Transition to School Statement. These documents take many hours to prepare and, as everything is completed through a portal, I cannot begin until I have the consent form. I had hoped to start working on these over the school holidays, so the sooner I receive them, the better.

I will also be resending everyone with their login details for OWNA, our management platform, which we use for things such as incident and accident forms. We currently have a number of forms still awaiting signatures. These need to be signed as soon as possible, and I will be following up individually with families, as some forms have now been sent several times. In everything we do, the safety and wellbeing of each child remain paramount, and signed forms are an important part of this.

Finally, we are hoping to head to Kimberley Playground on Monday. For families with children in their second year of preschool, please make sure your routine excursion permission forms have been returned.
