Meg’s Class: Term 3 Week 3

Hi everyone,

In English, we continued developing our writing skills by breaking down high school-level questions into smaller, more manageable questions. This week, we had a big focus on the verb ‘explain’, using it to guide our writing and explore cause-and-effect relationships.

In Maths, we continued our work on 3D shapes. This coming week, we will begin exploring the volume of 3D shapes and how we can calculate it.

In HSIE, we explored the role of our local councils and began developing our understanding of the responsibilities held by our state parliament. This coming week, we will have a big focus on the Federal Government, building our understanding before we head off to Canberra on Wednesday.

Canberra Trip: We leave for camp on Wednesday morning, so please make sure you are at school and ready to go by 6:30am. We will return on Friday afternoon at approximately 5:30pm.

On Friday night, we hosted our Years 6/7 Night, and it was a huge hit! There were so many great questions and lots of insight shared about the Year 7s’ experiences of high school. A big thank you to everyone who came, especially our Year 7s and their families, for coming along and supporting this wonderful Currambena tradition.

If you haven’t already, please make sure you lock in a parent-teacher interview time. Interviews begin in Week 5. You can find the booking document in our class Google Drive, and it has also been shared in a recent email.

On Monday, our campaign for Jump Rope for Heart begins! Our Jump Rope for Heart Committee has already started promoting the event amongst the students, with our Jump Off happening on Tuesday, September 1st.

Looking forward to the exciting adventure awaiting us this week!

With love,
Meg
