Meg’s Class: Term 3 Week 1
Hi everyone,
Welcome back!
As we head into another massive term, please make sure to check out our class Google Drive and the school calendar to stay up to date with all the important dates and events coming up, some of which I mentioned in the email I sent earlier this week.
The Year 6/7 Night is a longstanding Currambena tradition that gives children and families the opportunity to hear about students’ experiences as they transition to high school. One thing I forgot to mention in my previous email is that, despite the name, this event is open to any family who is interested in attending.
The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with former students sharing their experiences of high school so far. After some discussion, we will enjoy supper together and have time for a catch-up. Please bring a plate of finger food to share.
Another important date is our upcoming trip to Canberra (August 12th – 14th). This excursion aligns perfectly with our learning focus for the term and provides wonderful opportunities to bring our learning to life. The trip only takes place once every two years and embodies something we value deeply at Currambena, making learning real and meaningful.
During the excursion, students will visit Parliament House and gain access to areas that are not usually open to the general public. On Friday, I sent home updated camp forms. Please return these to me no later than Friday, 31 July.
Student records will be sent home in the coming weeks. Once these have been distributed, I will share a booking link for parent meetings.
Although it was a very short week, we enjoyed getting back into the swing of things. The children created holiday zines, including a mix of truths and lies about their break. We had lots of fun trying to guess what people did (and didn’t) get up to during the holidays!
The children have also begun organising events and campaigns they would like to run for the school. Both the Wear It Purple Day and Jump Rope for Heart committees have met and are already planning awareness campaigns and activities. It is wonderful to see so many children stepping into leadership roles, advocating for causes they care about, and taking initiative within our community.
It has been lovely to have the group back together, and I am looking forward to another jampacked term filled with learning, growth and plenty of exciting opportunities.
